Wish It Dream It Do It.
My coach comes up to me “ Remember what I have told you since day one, wish it, dream it, and do it. It is your turn to just go out there and do it.”I feel the cold wet concrete on the bottom of my feet as I prepare to do my event. I look ahead and I see the reflective water that I am going to be diving into. At this same time the strong but familiar smell of the chlorine hits me. “Swimmers step up”, Is the first thing I hear as I am pressing my goggles on my eyes as i step up in lane 1. After going through training for such a long time it was my time to show what I have learned to represent my college. I step up on the diving block. I say to myself, “Just like practice”. The announcer starts speaking, “This is the men 200 meter butterfly”. I drop my arms down and curve my fingers on the diving block like a hook. I curl my right foot over the edge of the block as well like a claw. “Swimmers take your marks”. And the loud beep goes off like it is screaming in my ears GO! and I extend my body out and launch up like a spring as I lock my arms on my head like an arrow to glide through the air. I go into the water. My legs start kicking and I take my first pull and my first breath. I start pacing. I hear the voice of my coach in my head. “don't tire yourself out pace yourself, The winner is not the fastest person in the first it is the first person to finish. It all goes by in a second to me. Next thing I know I am doing my last wall turn! It is the last 25 meters and I look to the right a little bit and I am head to head with another swimmer. I use up my last bit of energy. I take my last pull and glide. I touch the wall. I look at the crowd and it goes silent. I look up at the placements. It says, 1st lane one. My team starts cheering! I hear the crowd roar as if they were a pack of lions. I did it!
