We started out this project by making an identity web with words that we thing people associate us with and words that we would associate ourselves with. Then we made and then we used our identity webs as inspiration to write on the picture of our faces. You can pause the slideshow to see the words that I felt represented me the best. The two flags on the top represent my country of origin as well as the country I am currently living in.
When studying all of the different lenses in class the were some that really stood out to me.
Critical race theory- talks about how race and racism relates to power.
Post colonialism- The study of colonizing(one group gaining control over another) and the effects it has on both.
Reader response- This theory really just makes the reader think of how he or she relates to the book. It also lets readers look at their books from different angles in one paper.

We read a handful of readings in this project but the one that really stood out to me was the one you see on the picture The Homeland, Aztlan. This is one of the first readings that is not only in English and in Spanish but does a good job of telling a story of coming to america and the struggles that immigrants specially Mexican immigrants have to face.
Equity Mantra- Time will not wait for you, so take advantage of it.
